The method in which children adjust their existing thought process to accommodate for new experiences.
Example: When a child picks up a ball that is too large for them, they are able to realize that it is too big to pick up with one hand. The child will modify their approach by using the other hand to help them pick up the ball. A new experience has changed the child's understanding of the event.
